Benchè di padre inglese, il suo coinvolgimento con la scena artistica britannica sembra risalire solo al 1879, all’esordio della sua attività espositiva a Londra. Non compaiono, tra le sue opere esposte, titoli con espliciti riferimenti alla Gran Bretagna, quindi non è certo che l’abbia visitata, se non nel 1909, in occasione della sua partecipazione a una mostra collettiva di pittori romani contemporanei presso la Fine Art Society di Londra.

Although Coleman’s father was English, his involvement with the British artistic scene can be traced only to 1879, when his works were first exhibited in London. As none of the titles of his works refer to Great Britain, it is uncertain that he visited the country, if not in 1909, when the Fine Art Society in London hosted a group show of contemporary Roman artists.
